From the moment we are born we have no option but to relate to others. The first most important relationship is with our parents. This in turn opens up a network of other relationships to the extended family, to friendships, to authorities and of course to romantic relationships.
In other words our love relationships are based on our earliest interactions with our parents, interactions that we may not be aware of consciously.
Therapy gives us the opportunity to explore these unconscious processes, to work through them and find a more satisfactory way of forming and maintaining relationships.
